To all Spartans community members and facility users,
Southern Districts is excited to be able to share with you major news about upgrades to the Rowland Cowan Stadium at Carina occurring in 2024.
In partnership with the Clem Jones Centre and government funding partners, we are about to embark on the largest infrastructure project undertaken at the site. This will focus on the complete replacement of our roof, as well as upgrading the walls of the facility.
Combined, the project is aimed to both remove the ongoing impact of water from entering the playing surfaces during heavy rain while also improving player comfort levels through incorporation of insulation and improving overall air flow at the facility.
To achieve this project, we will have to progressively shut down the courts on site, one by one, to enable the new roof to be installed. This will mean that, as of February, we will be limited to 3 courts at the venue for fixtures and training, which will necessitate the moving of some games and trainings to alternate venues, and slightly different start times during the building program. We anticipate the project will be completed in six months.
We understand that this may inconvenience members and site users while the construction work is being undertaken and we will do everything possible to minimise disruption to members. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause, however we are confident that, once completed, the project will significantly improve the quality of service we can provide.
We will share more information about this project as it comes to hand and will provide regular updates on the progress of the project, as well as other exciting projects that we are looking to undertake in conjunction with these works.
Thank you for your continued support of the Association.
